Lincoln Square Theatre, Inc. (LST) is directed by a Board of Directors made up of representatives of the community  at-large. The Lincoln is headed by a President and an Executive Board that sets policy and directions for the Centre.

 

The Lincoln Square theatre is located in the heart of Decatur’s Downtown Historic District.

 

The Lincoln Square Theatre was built by Clarence Wait in 1916. The architectural firm in charge of the project was Aschauer and Waggoner of Decatur. When built, the building was considered one of the finest facilities of it’s kind.  Seating over 1300, the Lincoln Square Theatre, the “Fire Proof” theatre, hosted plays, musicals, opera, silent films, vaudeville, early “talkies”, feature films and concerts, Many famous stars of stage and screen appeared at the Lincoln. Such well known personalities as Al Jolson, Ethyl Barrymore, Anna Pavlova, John Phillip Sousa, Ed Wynn and Bob Hope took the stage at the Lincoln.
